Many construction sites take chances and continue to use slightly damaged webbing slings, which may easily lead to load‑fall accidents.

In accordance with national standard specifications, a synthetic fibre webbing sling shall be scrapped directly and must not be repaired for further use if any of the following conditions exists:

Cuts, punctures or incisions on the sling body with damage to load‑bearing fibres

Severe outer‑layer abrasion, exposure of load‑bearing core yarns, extensive fuzzing and broken fibres

Exposure to high‑temperature burning, melting or chemical corrosion, resulting in hardened, brittle or discoloured material

Broken stitching, unravelled seams or torn edges of the sling webbing

Kinking and deformation of the sling, or internal fibre fracture caused by long‑term compression

Lost or illegible identification label making the rated working load unidentifiable

Hidden damage caused by shock loading, over‑load lifting, or lifting sharp‑edged objects without protection

Tips: Always fit corner protectors when lifting angular or sharp‑edged workpieces. Conduct regular routine inspections of lifting slings and rigging hardware. Safety is never trivial.
